Gamers who love a good challenge would be aching to check out Furi, especially with the recent release of its Onnamusha DLC. However, the game isn’t kind to beginners, and will beat them into the ground if they don’t get a hang of this title and its gameplay systems. So, players who wish to try out this title should check out the following tips and tricks to help them make the most of this amazing title.

10 Master Of Basic And Charged Dodging

In Furi, avoiding damage is just as important as dishing it out. The Rider isn’t the sturdiest character around, and a few hits are all it will take to take him down for the count.

Because the player character is so fragile, it’s important to use the dash move as much as possible to dodge a boss’ harmful projectiles. Players should also charge these dashes to cover larger distances, which is a must at times.

9 Parrying Is A Lifesaver

Another technique that helps The Rider avoid taking any damage is parrying. With a simple tap of the parry button, players can easily block specific attacks that have a white flash and a distinct noise to them.

On top of this, parrying regenerates a bit of health, keeping The Rider alive a little longer. This makes it a valuable technique that players should master, especially since it also lets them reflect projectiles back at the boss.

8 Attacks Can Be Charged For Massive Damage

Holding down the attack button lets The Rider charge up a high-powered attack to deal massive damage. It also leaves enemies in a vulnerable state… but that will be addressed later on.

Keep in mind that The Rider is extremely slow during this phase and can easily be caught out by an attack. So, only charge up an attack when the opening is there, and remember that The Rider can dodge while charging said attack too!

7 A Perfect Parry Or Charged Attack Can Leave Enemies Open

Bosses can also be left open for a powerful cinematic attack if The Rider plays their cards right. There are two ways to trigger this phase — either by parrying an attack at the last second or landing a fully charged attack.

It’s a great way to get some much-needed breathing room while landing a pretty satisfying attack in the process too. To top this all off, players can land a few shots on these vulnerable enemies before initiating this counterattack during the ranged phases.

6 Use Charge Boosts When Enemies Are Knocked Down

In close-quarters combat, the right stick doesn’t shoot bullets anymore. Instead, it lets the player charge up a powerful attack that hits for a ton of damage.

Keep in mind that this is different from the charged attack that players can pull off by holding down the attack button. Again, players are vulnerable while performing a Charge Boost and will lose it if they get hit too. With this in mind, it’s best to use it when the enemy is knocked down, as this gives players a window to charge the attack.

5 Always Be Ready To Deal With QTEs

Furi isn’t free from its fair share of dreaded quick-time events. However, for what it’s worth, they’re used pretty minimally and are pretty easy to get through.

The player just needs to wiggle both control sticks when prompted to deal with these phases. Given how much focus each boss fight needs, this isn’t really the most threatening move a boss can pull out in a fight… but players should be ready regardless.

4 Use The Spark Stance For Dodging Purposes

These tips are exclusively for players using the Onnamusha Rider, who has enough different caveats to make this character a learning curve as well. For starters, this version of the Rider can use two different stances during a fight, Spark and Storm.

The Spark Stance is the agile stance, allowing for a multitude of quick dodges and fast movement. However, the damage dealt in this stance is very low, so it should be used exclusively to avoid damage.

3 Use The Storm Stance To Deal Heavy Damage

Whenever players get a window of opportunity to attack, they should switch to a Storm Stance instead. The Rider becomes incredibly slow, and her dodge is pretty much a liability… but the immense damage output in this form is simply incredible.

Both The Rider’s projectiles and melee attacks get a massive boost in power. It’s so extensive that a few hits are all it will take to wear down certain bosses before they’re defeated in resounding fashion.

2 Time The Star Power Wisely

The Onnamusha Rider also has a Star power that charges up over time. Players can press a button to unleash the full power of the Rider when this bar fills up.

Both stances are augmented and received upgraded versions of their attacks. It’s a great way to spice up gameplay and absolutely ravage most bosses with ease. However, it takes awhile to recharge, so players should be judicious with when they use it.

1 Time Stance Switches To Make The Most Of Both Forms

It’s downright impossible to stick to one stance while fighting a boss. The Spark Stance deals too little damage, while the Storm Stance leaves players in a vulnerable state due to its limited mobility.

So, it’s obvious that players need to juggle stances to both dodge and deal damage efficiently. Keep in mind that the Rider’s Star power charges up way more while parrying and dodging in the Spark Stance, so that should also work into a player’s strategy for each boss.
