Training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu since he was 10, Freire made his pro debut at 16 in 2004. He joined Bellator in 2010 and has amassed a 21-5 record with the promotion. “Pitbull” is a three-time Bellator featherweight champion. In 2017 he won the title for a second time and defended it in the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix. 

Freire lost the title in the finals against A.J. McKee in 2021. Freire beat McKee to regain the belt in April. 

Borics made his pro debut in 2014. Joining Bellator in 2017, he is 9-1 with the promotion. On a four-fight win streak, Borics’ last fight was a win over Mads Burnell in March.

McKee will also compete at Bellator 286. He will make his lightweight debut, a division where Freire was also champion. “Pitbull” vacated the title to focus on the McKee rematch. The lightweight title is held by Freire’s brother Patricky.
